Pillowy Clouds in Georgetwon, DC

Washington D.C.
March 30, 2015

Landed back in DC yesterday after living for two years in Beijing and the first ten things that made us go Wow were:

  1. Wow. I smell Cinnabons; the first smell that hit our noses on entering the airport
  2. Wow. The roads are so wide and clean with hardly any cars. We traveled the equivalent of all across in Beijing in maybe 15 minutes
  3. Wow. Everyone speaks English. We can talk to everyone!
  4. Wow. We can order food online so smoothly. The menus are in English and the websites are user friendly
  5. Wow. We can be on Facebook without VPN
  6. Wow. Authentic or not, American Chinese food tastes good!
  7. Wow. We can choose whether to heat or cool our room
  8. Wow. The face tissues are so soft
  9. Wow. The mattress is so bouncy
  10. Wow. The sky is a sparkling blue with such pillowy white clouds!

  1. Hahaha! I can totally relate to all of these on my ‘visits’ back to Canada. 🙂

Except for the VPN for FB… so far we can juse FB in India however posts are monitored – if you say something against the prevailing powers that be you are liable to be made to feel virtually uncomfortable (or have your post mysteriously removed)!

  2. Sounds like you were missing a few things in China! I can relate. I’m an expat living in South Korea and I blog about expat life as well and am always looking to connect with people who blog about similar themes. Please visit me at bosmosis.wordpress.com sometime. Cheers, and good luck with the transition!

  3. 🙂 Lovely. Enjoy. x
